The History of Fairchild Auto-Mated Parts

Machining Precision Parts Since 1944

Since its inception, Fairchild has always had a commitment to continuous improvement, evolving over the years to keep up with its customer’s requirements. Through developments of new manufacturing processes, obtaining industry standard certifications, and investing in the latest technologies to stay competitive, Fairchild has been been able to earn the trust of some of the most prominent industry leading companies for decades. 1944

Company Formation

Founded by Roger Fairchild in Southington, CT as a Brown & Sharpe screw machine shop to support the U.S.’s WWII efforts

1945-1946

Settled in Winsted

Roger moved the business to Winsted, CT, incorporated as “Fairchild Screw Products” and joined the PMPA (Precision Machined Products Association)

1955

The Flood of 1955 Hits Winsted

Soon after moving Fairchild to a new building in 1953, the town of Winsted would experience one of the worst floods in Connecticut’s history. After 2 weeks of full-time cleaning, Fairchild was back up and running

1965

New Generation

After 10 years of growth, Roger’s son Stanley bought the business and re-named it “Fairchild Auto-Mated Parts, Incorporated”

1970

Second Era

Norman F. Thompson III, an experienced Clock Engineer, was hired to manage the company. In 1981, Norman purchased the business and brought in his son, Jake, a Yale Engineer

2000

ISO9001 Certification

Fairchild’s Quality Management System became ISO 9001 certified (a certification that has been maintained to this day)

2008

Second Generation

Upon his father’s retirement, Jake took over ownership of Fairchild, continuing to invest in new machining technologies and expanding the physical space of the manufacturing facility

2022

Third Era

Leland Licciardi, formerly an Engineer at Lockheed Martin, purchased Fairchild from Jake with ambitions to grow the business

2024

AS9100D Certification

Fairchild’s Quality Management System became AS9100D certified
