JOB OPENING: SWISS/CNC MACHINE SETUP TECHNICIAN AND LEAD PERSON

ROLE OVERVIEW

Role: Swiss/CNC Setup Technician/Operator and Lead Person

Reports to: President

Employment Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Shift: First (7:00 AM to 3:30 PM)

Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Swiss/CNC Setup Technician/Operator and Lead Person to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and overseeing the operation of the CNC Swiss and lathe department. This role involves ensuring the production of high-quality precision machined components, leading a team of setup technicians/operators and maintaining efficient workflow in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reports directly to top management.
  • Tool, program, set-up and operate CNC Swiss and lathe machines to produce products in accordance with production needs and customer specifications, performing inspections and hand deburring.
  • Train, develop, and direct set-up technicians, operators and trainees in the Swiss/CNC department, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to resolve product discrepancies and maintain measuring devices and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine and equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime, to include assisting in the secondary machining department as needed.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and management to improve processes and optimize production efficiency, identifying product discrepancies and/or equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain detailed records of machine setups, machine programs, production runs, quality checks, machine maintenance, and training records.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in CNC machining is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in setting up and operating CNC Swiss and CNC lathe machines. Miyano/Citizen and Daewoo/Doosan experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming and machine operation, including G-code.
  • Proven leadership skills, preferably with experience overseeing and training operators.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications and understand fractions / decimals.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers, calipers, and gages). Experience with Keyence, optical comparator equipment, concentricity gage, and profilometer a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communications skills (English) and ability to work collaboratively with team members.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft products Outlook, Excel, and Access. MasterCam experience a plus.
